Armorel has selected antipasti from various suppliers for their ethics and quality
Antipasti is traditionally the first course of a formal Italian meal. Meaning in Italian ‘before food;’ typically, that would include cured meats, olives, mushrooms, cheeses, pickled meats or vegetables in oil or vinegar. Regionally, antipasti can vary greatly and if you were to order a first course in Northern Italy, it could vary widely from the food you would be served in Southern Italy. Nevertheless, one thing that is agreed all over Italy, is that it is a really important course and signifies the official beginning of the Italian meal.
Armorel has selected antipasti from various suppliers for their ethics and quality to suit any occasion or recipe or meal situation. She has tried to source interesting and tasty products for appetisers for you, or nibbles for an informal evening with friends. Antipasti is often served together on a large platter and can be a lovely, relaxing way to enjoy food with others. It can be as simple as cold meats, breads, and cheeses or bruschetta, crostini or frittata.
We also have a selection of nuts and snacks to sit alongside your antipasti, including fried and salted broad beans, broad beans with chilli, giant corn, cocktail nut mix, pesto peanuts, rose Harissa mixed nuts, smoked and salted almonds.
Pitted Kalamata Olives
Of course, what antipasti is complete without a dish of tasty olives. These Classic Kalamata olives are rich and fruity. Named after the city of Kalamata these Greek table olives are soft and distinctive.
Pitted Nocellara del Belice Olives
These are large bright green olives from Sicily. Early harvested using the Castelvetrano method, they retain their vibrant colour and have a fresh delicate flavour.
This meze topping is ideal as an appetiser or you can even use it as a spread. It is a chunky blend of roasted red peppers and aubergines with green and Kalamata olives, blended with herb, tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil. Simply spread on crusty bread or savoury biscuits.
Stuffed Vine Leaves
A traditional Greek appetiser of tender vine leaves wrapped around an onion and rice filling these are so tasty, with raisins, herbs and pine nuts. Filling and delicious, these are a definite winner for sharing as an appetiser, and vegan too, so a great choice.
Sun-Dried Tomato Meze
A Mediterranean recipe of chopped sun-dried tomatoes, olives, garlic, capers and extra virgin olive oil, this is ideal as an appetiser or a topping on bruschetta or savoury biscuits. Simply serve with a well chosen charcuterie board, warm baked crusty bread and a nice glass of chilled rose wine, Perfect on a summers evening or a cold winter late lunch with friends.
We can even advise you on wine pairings for your antipasti, so you find the perfect match. A good pairing can improve the flavour by waking up the taste buds. For example, light and fruity wines are good with Italian cured meats and in particular, Prosecco or a nice crisp Pinot Grigio.
