Sheep Cheese

One of the most extensive ranges of sheep cheeses in the area

We have one of the most extensive ranges of sheep cheeses in the area and have chosen from the finest affineurs, from both the UK and Europe. Whether you need hard, soft, rind washed, blue, semi soft or a full flavoursome sheep cheese, Armadeli has an impressive selection.

Not only does Armadeli stock a huge variety of artisan cheeses, we also stock a lovely range of small cheeses that would be ideal for gifts for any time of the year, including Christmas.

Hard cheese

Ojos del Guadiana Manchego is a Spanish artisan cheese with a strong flavour, having been matured for at least 12 months. Made from milk from Manchego sheep who graze freely, it has a sweet buttery aroma and an ivory coloured interior. Delicious on its own, it is extremely versatile and lends a nutty flavour to any dish. Pairs well with either a young red wine or a crisp white.

Semi soft cheese

From Tuscany, Pecorino Dolce is a semi soft sheep cheese matured only for 3-5 weeks. It is gently flavoured with a creamy finish and is a truly delicious cheese that could happily grace any cheeseboard. Excellent with either red or white wine, you could pair this with a classic Chianti to keep the Italian theme.

Canareal Cremosa is a soft, mild creamy sheep cheese, which is perfect for an informal dinner party. Slightly salty, just keep at room temperature and watch as your guests tuck in and scoop out its deliciousness with breadsticks or sticks of crudities.

Rind Washed

Brebirousse d’Argental is a sheep cheese originating from France in the Rhone-Alpes region. It tastes buttery and sweet – yet lovely and creamy. Brebirousse, which means ‘red sheep’ would be delicious on a warm baguette, maybe even with a glass of bubbly white wine.

Made in Yorkshire, Mrs Bell’s Blue uses 100% fresh, local ewe’s milk. This award winning blue is curdled with vegetarian rennet, salted and matured for ten to twelve weeks. Less salty than many blue cheeses, Mrs Bell’s Blue is rich and creamy and looks beautiful on the cheeseboard and is sublime with sweet crackers and fresh fruit.

Full of flavour Chilli Pecorino is a spicy pale cheese from Tuscany, which looks eye catching on a cheeseboard and is beautifully delicious with pears and walnuts, along with crusty bread and a tasty Chianti.

These are only a small selection of our sheep cheeses, all carefully selected for their flavour, quality and supplier ethics. Others we stock in this range are listed below; some not all year round (always best to call us before travelling – or we can advise you on a suitable alternative) and this list is not exhaustive by any means.
